Unglazed lid is soaked before use. During cooking process the water evaporates to create a blanket of steam. Lid is crafted to allow some steam to escape therefore the lid is not tightly fitted.
Bottom section is glazed with glass frit lining to allow for easy cleaning. Microwave & Oven Safe up to 500 degrees F
