Understanding Materials: Don’t Treat Wood, Metal, and Resin the Same

One of the biggest mistakes in DIY crafting is assuming all materials behave the same.
Wood absorbs moisture and expands, resin hardens based on temperature, and metal requires precise drilling. When you skip learning about material properties, the final product can fail, warp, or break.

For example, a friend created a resin tray during winter without checking curing temperature. It never fully hardened and bent like rubber. One small detail changed the entire result.

Before starting your project, research:

  • How materials respond to temperature and humidity

  • Drying or curing times

  • Weight limits and durability

Knowledge is the strongest tool you can carry.

👉 Great DIY projects begin with understanding what you’re working with.
